Bringing The Hygge Out to Life Online

About the Project

The Hygge Out offers luxury glamping on the North Yorkshire coast — Scandinavian-style lodges and cottages nestled in wildflower meadows, with thoughtful comforts like wood-fired hot tubs, private bathrooms, and cosy interiors. They wanted a website that would reflect that serene, premium experience: something that brought people into that peaceful escape the moment they land on the page.

Branding

Key problems:

Although The Hygge Out had a beautiful concept, their existing presence wasn’t capturing its full potential:

  • Website wasn’t fully conveying the feeling of “hygge” — comfort, ambience, warmth.
  • It was harder for users to browse accommodation options clearly (pods vs cottages, upgrades).
  • Extras and personalised touches were buried or not obvious, so many potential bookings didn’t include them.
  • Need for strong mobile experience, fast load times, and visuals that evoke emotion as much as information.

Our Solution

We built the new site with mood, usability and conversion in mind:

  • Commissioned photography and imagery that show off the experience: glowing interiors, hot tubs, soft textures, natural light.
  • Clean, uplifting design layout that guides people gently from exploring stays → selecting extras → checking availability.
  • Highlighted upgrades and enhancements (e.g. wood-fired hot tubs, BBQ packs, romantic touches) so customers see options to make their stay special.
  • Ensured responsive design so the stay-exploration experience is excellent on phones/tablets, not just desktops.
  • Streamlined navigation: clear “Stay”, “Enhance Your Stay”, “About Us”, “Things To Do” etc., so people find what they want quickly without overwhelm.

  • Visitors now more engaged from first click — exploring lodging options, browsing upgrades more often.
  • A rise in bookings that include extras or upgrade options, adding to revenue per stay.
  • Improved confidence from potential guests: visuals and layout reinforce the luxurious, premium feel.
  • Greater clarity for users: easier to see what’s included, what can be added, and how to make a reservation.

Final Thoughts

The Hygge Out isn’t just a place to stay — it’s about letting people breathe, unwind, and feel the joy of stepping away from the everyday. The new website needed to evoke that feeling, not just describe it. When visitors arrive now, they can almost smell the wood smoke, feel the warmth of the hot tub, watch the stars over the meadow. That’s the power of good design.
