Revealing Magic in Straw

About the Project

Delphine Robins is a self-taught artisan working with the rare craft of straw marquetry. Using coloured dry straw, she creates intricate visual art, furniture, and statement pieces that shimmer with detail and precision. Her work deserved a digital home as bespoke as the art itself, so we built a website and curated photography that would let every texture, reflection, and colour variation shine.

Key problems:

Delphine’s artistry is exceptional — but the old digital presentation was holding back its full power:

  • Subtle details like straw texture, colour variations and light reflections weren’t visible, reducing sense of craftsmanship.
  • Navigation and structure didn’t neatly support both gallery browsing and commissions / bespoke requests.
  • The branding was minimal and signature-based but needed a strong identity to match her rare skills.
  • The site needed to perform beautifully on all devices to match the luxury feel.

Our Solution

We designed every element with craftsmanship and visual richness at heart:

  • Commissioned photography styled to bring out straw’s natural sheen, light interplay and the fine precision of each piece.
  • Developed a clean, elegant site layout that lets the art speak: large visuals, subtle transitions, minimal distractions.
  • Branded using Delphine’s signature as her identity, pairing that with refined typography, restrained colour palette and strong supporting graphics to reflect the handmade, artisan nature.
  • Structured content so visitors can browse galleries, view the design process, see colour & pattern options, and easily reach out for bespoke work.
  • Ensured responsive design and fast load times so the tactile visual experience isn’t compromised on mobile or smaller screens.

What emerged is a site that feels like stepping into Delphine’s studio: immersive, tactile, precise. Key outcomes include:

  • Stronger visual impact: people see and “feel” the craft even before they meet the maker.
  • Clarity for clients: bespoke requests now flow in with better briefs because pattern/colour guides and sample imagery make choices easier.
  • Elevated brand perception: visitors regard Delphine not just as maker, but as artisan-artist with rare skill and heritage.

Final Thoughts

This project was about honouring patience, detail and rare talent. Delphine creates pieces that are small miracles of patience — each straw placed, each line drawn by hand. Her new website doesn’t just show the art; it celebrates the mastery. It lets her work be admired, understood, and treasured exactly as it should be.
